Painting a shark egg

One of the most interesting things about visiting the beach is the curiosities you find washed up on the sand after high tide.

After never having seen one in my whole life, we found not one, but two, Port Jackson Shark eggs on our strolls along the water during last weekend's getaway.

I found it so intriguing I had to draw it. First I sketched it in pencil.

And because my two-year-old seemed to be having a decent nap, I went on to paint it with watercolour.

It was a lovely, relaxing afternoon.
