Holiday mode

I can feel myself slipping into that lazy summer mode so I thought I'd better write one last post for the year before I lose the ability to type altogether in favour of lounging around reading books - my preferred holiday activity.

Our Christmas tree (the last page of my sketchbook)

I feel a shift in the direction of this blog although I'm not really sure what that is yet. I know that my focus next year will be on drawing and painting, so perhaps that will mean less words here. I'm not sure. I do like like a lengthy ramble on occasion though, so I probably won't be able to help myself now and then.

I usually love making resolutions but for the coming year I'm thinking more in terms of 'intentions'. My intentions are to draw regularly (everyday, if I were being specific...which I'm not) and to prioritise painting. All in the tiny snippets of quiet time found somewhere in the tumble of family life. My first priority, of course, are my two beautiful girls, the act of raising them the most creative task I have ever undertaken.

I look forward to the year ahead, it's challenges and rewards, stretching myself - and my art supplies (for I plan to buy less, use more) - and keeping up with this wonderful online creative community which I love being involved in. Thanks so much for popping in and reading. It really means a lot to me.

So my typing fingers are flagging now, getting ready for my book-holding hands to take control. There will be drawing this summer for sure. But lots of reading, I hope, too.

I'll be taking a break from the blog for a little bit but will probably still hang out on Facebook and Twitter occasionally. So I just want to wish Seasons Greetings to all and see you in the new year!
